A44A 2019 CQ WW CW
Oman
23-24 November 2019
The CQ WW is the largest and most prestigious Amateur Radio competition in the world. Every year, this global contest brings together a vast community of radio operators—ranging from casual enthusiasts to highly experienced contesters—who take to the airwaves to test their skills, equipment, and operating strategies.
The event unfolds over two separate weekends: the last weekend of October is dedicated to SSB (voice) operation, while the last weekend of November features CW (Morse code). During each 48-hour contest, participants aim to contact as many stations as possible across the globe, focusing in particular on reaching the widest variety of DXCC entities (recognized countries) and CQ Zones. Each unique connection contributes to the operator’s score, requiring both technical expertise and careful tactical planning.
Beyond the competitive spirit, the CQ WW fosters international camaraderie and highlights the remarkable ability of amateur radio to connect people across continents using only radio waves, operator skill, and favorable propagation conditions. It remains a yearly celebration of communication, innovation, and the enduring passion of the worldwide amateur radio community.
