The CQ World Wide WPX Contest is one of the most popular and massive amateur radio competitions in the world. Originally designed to support the WPX (Worked All Prefixes) Award program sponsored by CQ Amateur Radiomagazine, the contest has grown into a premier international event that attracts tens of thousands of participants every year. While the SSB (voice) portion takes place in March, the CW (Morse Code) weekend is held annually on the last full weekend of May, turning the amateur bands into a high-speed symphony of dots and dashes.
